I have approached Leanne at Ruby Dog's Art House to facilitate a workshop on creating shrines from foam board. She was very enthusiastic, but asked that I create a few more so that they can be displayed at the store, prior to the workshop.

This one is titled "Coming Out Of The Closet With Mental Illness" and I have created it honouring all those before us, who had the bravery to go public with their very private struggles. The front door says "Acceptance" because really, isn't that all that any of us are striving for?

The bird's nest and the feather in the attic poke fun at the 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest' stigma. I am contemplating writing on the back, famous mentally ill people. Such as Abraham Lincoln, Virginia Woolf, Michelangelo, Van Gogh and Jhoan Goethe.
Will keep you posted on the completed project.

Creative Wishes!
